Rev. Ed Schneider will present a workshop
focusing on the partnership between students and teachers at Smiley
Middle School on Thursday, January 3. The workshop will begin at
1:00 p.m. in the school's library.
The workshop is part of an effort by Smiley's counseling department
to implement a "School Climate and Parent Involvement Project."
The objective of the effort is to encourage a safe, collegial relationship
between the Smiley staff, students, parents and the community. The
idea is linked closely with the district's goal of setting high
expectations for students, parents, teachers, principal, staff and
the Denver Public Schools community.
Future workshops will include such topics as "How To Get Your
Child To Achieve" and "Promoting A Parental Network."
Rev. Ed Schneider is a consultant who has also worked with schools
in St. Louis. His workshop will focus on school climate, teacher/mentoring
leadership, and "how subjective realities affect student achievement
and finding the keys to the promotion of excellence."
Smiley Middle School is located at 2540 Holly Street. For more information,
please call Cozetta Hammock-West at 303-399-0740.
