Tour To
Help Parents Explore Options And The DPS Choice Process
On Saturday, January 19 the "World
of Choice" Bus will be parked outside the Pepsi Center during
the 2002 School Fair before heading off to the Southwest area on
Sunday. (See schedule below.)
Parents should look for the yellow mini-bus with a banner that reads
"There's a World of Choice in Denver Public Schools."
On the bus, parents can pick up brochures for various schools and
programs, and copies of DPS Today 2002 (the district's Resource
and Enrollment Guide). Volunteers will be giving away balloons and
goodies to children and various school principals, area superintendents
and other district staff will be available to answer questions about
the "Choice" process.
The Choice Process allows parents and students the option to apply
for a transfer to another neighborhood school. Parents wanting the
best chance of securing a seat in a school outside their neighborhood
school boundary should have completed enrollment forms for the 2002-2003
school year returned to any Denver Public School by February 15th.
Also, Choice forms are available at all schools. A lottery will
be conducted if there are more applicants than space available in
any school.
Please Note: Magnet and Charter schools may have different enrollment
deadlines as they manage their own admission and application deadlines.
