Sloan's Lake Citizens Group, Butterfly Hope, students from Cheltenham
Elementary School.
WHAT: Reception for students who
helped create welcome banners to be hung along West Colfax Avenue.
A group of city officials will join the students at nearby West
Colfax to view the banners.

WHERE: At Cheltenham Elementary
School, 1580 Julian Street.
WHY: Sloan's Lake Citizens Group
and Butterfly Hope, a children's art and science enrichment program,
announce the debut of welcome banners along West Colfax Avenue between
Federal Blvd. and Knox Court. Banners were created using youth art
that will add a colorful and friendly touch to West Colfax Avenue.
Students were under the guidance of Butterfly Hope teachers Deb
Wilson and Cheryl Cowles. Butterfly Hope is a non-profit organization
serving Cheltenham students with creative arts, natural science
and gardening enrichment programs.
Students who participated last year as fifth-graders at Cheltenham
(and who now attend nearby Lake Middle School) are Traecy Amaya,
Brando Calzada, Armando Delgado, Gloria Duran, Somm'r Fairchild,
Edgar Gutierrez, Yeni Oronia, Elizabeth Rascon, Carlos Vargas, and
Erika Villarruel.
