New Executive Director For Denver Public Schools Retirement System Board Is: David A. Stella

The Denver Public Schools Retirement System Board of Trustees has named David A. Stella as its new Executive Director, effective December 1, 2001. Mr. Stella replaces Dr. Alan Belstock, who retires officially today after 34 years with the district.

Mr. Stella has been the administrator of the Division of Retirement Service in the Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds, where he was responsible for directing the benefit plan operations of the $60 billion Wisconsin Retirement System. That system serves over 478,000 members. In addition, Mr. Stella administered the $1.2 billion Wisconsin Deferred Compensation Plan.

Mr. Stella has over 15 years experience in administering retirement, deferred compensation, tax sheltered annuity and group life insurance plans offered to state and local government employees.

Mr. Stella has over 29 years experience in a variety of positions in Wisconsin state government including 19 years of management experience. Mr. Stella holds a bachelors and master's degree from the University of Wisconsin and has earned the designation of Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. Mr. Stella also has been awarded the designation of Certified Retirement Administrator through the International Foundation for Retirement Education.
