The Denver East Student Group Steps Up To Help Local Charity During Slow Period For Donations

The Denver East student group, "Student Movement for Real Change," collected more than 4000 food items and delivered them to Mountain Peaks, a Denver area shelter for teens.

The student organized, student run, and student motivated group decided that they wanted to help one local organization after hearing that the local groups were having problems getting donations this holiday season.

The group, whose president is Saul Garlick, has already worked on helping with 9-11 drives and on awareness of the need for help. Organized by Emma Hayward the food drive ran for two weeks at East through math classes. Other Members of the group aided in the delivery of five carloads of food items to the shelter on south Acoma.
