Holiday Program Honors Honesty Of Two Boys Who Found $1600 Cash

Luis Granillo, 13, and Luis Figuroa, 12, turned in $1600 dollars cash they found in a wallet laying on the sidewalk to Rishel School officials last month. On Wednesday, December 12th at 7:00 p.m. the two eighth graders will be honored at their school's holiday program for "doing the right thing." Granillo and Figuroa will be presented with a plaque after performances by the school choir, a skit, and a sing-a-long.

"We've received letters from children around the Denver metro area applauding the boys for being good examples and returning the money," said Sally Bustamante, Head Secretary at Rishel Middle School. "The boys have also received a $100 dollar gift certificate from Park Meadows and another $100 from an anonymous donor. It's helped bring a real positive atmosphere to our school and brought up morale."

The boys may get a late Christmas present in late December. If no one claims the money by December 27th, it will be returned to the boys. Denver Police say one person tried to claim the money but it turned out to be a false claim.
