At 7:45 a.m. on Friday, November 9th,
children at Crofton Elementary School will mount a 4 x 8 foot mural
depicting many different aspects of the New York City tragedy. The
United States Flag can be seen under the entire painting which also
includes the World Trade Center at one edge with flames surrounding
it, the earth a "thoughtful" sun and multi-cultural angels
in the corners. The sun indicates that the tragedy touches the entire
earth.
The art teacher calls it a "visual prayer."
The mural will be mounted outside the entrance of the gym. About
20 students are expected to come early and set it up. The media
is welcome to attend and interview students about their experience.
Crofton is a magnet school for highly gifted and talented children
in Northeast Denver.
