Korean Educator To Visit Three DPS Schools For Performance Assessment Research

Professor Young-Chun Kim, Ph.D. from the Chinju National University of Education in Chinju, Korea will be visiting DPS schools to obtain information about the district's approach to standards-based education and assessments.

On Friday, November 30, Kim will be visiting Steck Elementary School (425 Ash St), Hill Middle School (451 Clermont), and Columbian Elementary School (2925 W. 40th Ave.). During his week here he also plans to visit the Colorado Department of Education, the DPS Department of Assessment & Testing, Aurora Public Schools and the Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL) in Aurora.

"Through books and articles, I came to know that Colorado is one of the leading states in the area of educational reform related to performance assessment," said Kim. "My research plan is to visit some schools (elementary and secondary school level) which are famous for school reform and performance assessment in the Denver School District."

For more information on Dr. Kim's precise schedule on Friday, please call the DPS Public Information Office at 720-423-3414.
