Audiences will "get a kick"
out of the ever-popular Cole Porter musical, "Anything Goes",
which opens December 6 at Denver School of the Arts, 150 S. Pearl
St., Denver. The musical will be performed 7 p.m. nightly Dec. 6-8
and Dec. 12-15, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Dec. 15.
From the opening bars of "I Get a Kick Out of You", to
the closing all-cast refrain, the production takes a fresh approach
to Porter's fast-paced romantic romp aboard the ocean liner S.S.
American.
Under the direction of DSA dance and movement arts director Michael
O'Banion, the musical "truly is an all-school production,"
said DSA Principal Patti Bippus. "Students from dance, drama,
vocal and instrumental music departments auditioned for the musical."
Stagecraft and design students designed and built the intricate
stage sets, and cinemagraphy students will film the production.
Meanwhile, the visual arts department conducted a contest to design
the program cover. "We had some amazing selections," said
Bippus.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and can be purchased
at DSA or by calling (303) 722-4669.
