The Denver School of the Arts (DSA)
Instrumental Music Department presents the "Beginning of Tomorrows"
concert, featuring some of the best middle and high school student
musicians in the city. The concert will take place December 2 at
the future home of DSA: the Houston Fine Arts Center, 7111 Montview
Blvd. (20th and Quebec streets) in Denver.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. A silent
auction will be held prior to the concert and during intermission.
The school's Concert Band, Piano Majors, Woodwind Quintet and Wind
Ensemble will perform some challenging and inspiring music. David
Gillingham's "Heroes, Lost and Fallen" was written as
a Vietnam Memorial but recent events lend this extended piece a
contemporary interpretation. Frank Ticheli's "Postcard"
is an energetic and whimsical elegy for the mother of band great,
H. Robert Reynolds. A moving arrangement of "Amazing Grace"
by Ticheli is another of the several other pieces to be performed.
Architects responsible for the renovation of the Houston Fine Arts
building for the new DSA complex will be present at the concert.
On hand will be the latest drawings and models of the projected
state-of-the-art facility.
Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door. All proceeds will benefit
the music program at DSA. For ticket sales please call (303) 722-4669.
Come experience new beginnings with the DSA musicians.
