Elementary School Students To Face-Off In Tri-School Geography Bee

Which ocean is located west of the United States? Columbus is the capital city of which state? Which state is larger in area - Utah or Delaware?

These are the types of questions that will be asked when McKinley-Thatcher, Rosedale, and Asbury elementary school students compete in the fifth annual Tri-School Geography Bee. This year the competition will be held at McKinley-Thatcher Elementary School (1230 S. Grant St.) on Thursday, November 29th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

"The Geography Bee provides elementary students an opportunity to develop an understanding of the geography of their state, country and world," said McKinley-Thatcher Principal Jim Richardson. "It helps to instill values of teamwork, commitment, participation and good sportsmanship."

Each school will send five students from grades second, third, fourth, and fifth to compete. There will be a total of 60 students in the contest. Students are selected for the Tri - School competition through a preliminary competition within each school.
