Students enrolled in the police science, fire science, and sports medicine programs at the Career Education Center will team up with the Denver Fire Department in a day-long car wash Thursday to raise money for emergency workers and their families dealing with the tragedies on the east coast.

The car wash will begin at 8 a.m. at Station 12 at the corner of West 26th Ave. and Federal Boulevard in northwest Denver. The station is one block from the Career Education Center. The car wash will run until about 3 p.m.

Funds raised through the event, dubbed HERO "Helping Emergency Rescue Officers" will be distributed to families impacted by the attacks last week on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
