Qwest Donates School Supplies To Castro Elementary School

New musical recorders, pens, pencils and paper will help Richard T. Castro School start the school year with the right equipment. Retirees of Qwest Pioneers will donate $1,000 worth of school supplies.

The school will celebrate and recognize their school partners at a school assembly on September 13 at 9:30 a.m. in the gym at 845 South Lowell Blvd.

Wal-Mart and Katzke Paper Co. also donated materials.

"This is wonderful news for us," said Frank Gonzales, Principal at Castro. "We know our performance is not where it needs to be, so just having the tools is a big step in the right direction. Just to give that to our kids is a wonderful gesture."
