More Classroom Space Opens
for Two Schools in Southwest Denver
In an effort to meet growth, Denver Public
Schools continues to serve the public by renovating its existing buildings
and providing new classroom space for growing schools.
Seven classrooms were added at John F. Kennedy High School to aid students
in meeting the demands of the new century. In addition to a computer lab,
a foreign language room, a pre-engineering room and a tele-conferencing
room, three general classrooms were also constructed to meet the needs of
the students and staff. The $2.3 million dollar project was constructed
in eleven months.
A dedication ceremony for the new addition is set for Wednesday, September
12 at 9:30 a.m. at 2855 South Lamar Street. This project was built with
proceeds from the $305 million dollar bond passed by voters in 1998.
Just up the road, College View Elementary will be celebrating its
two classroom addition covering 2,600 square feet. College View will host
a dedication ceremony on Tuesday, September 18th at 2:30 p.m. at 2675 South
Decatur Street.
In conjunction with the dedication ceremony, College View students will
showcase their talents by performing traditional Mexican dances and American
songs in celebration of Mexican Independence Day.
Construction on the $477,000 College View project began in April 2001 and
concluded in August of this year. The addition at College View Elementary
was also built with proceeds from the $305 million dollar bond approved
by voters in 1998.
