Ruby Hill Neighborhood Leaders And Denver Public Schools Officials Dedicate Six-Classroom Addition And Playground At Godsman Elementary School

August 23, 2001

The $2.1 million, six-classroom addition at Godsman Elementary is complete. The school will host a dedication ceremony for the staff, students and community of the Ruby Hill Neighborhood on Monday, August 27th at 1:30 p.m. at the school (2120 West Arkansas Ave.).

"This new wing will lower overall class size and allow us the space to offer quality education to our students," said Sandy Shane, Principal of Godsman.

Nearly 500 students at Godsman, from Early Childhood Education through fifth grade, will benefit from the new wing. The six-classroom addition, which covers 11,585 square feet, includes two classrooms for kindergarten and four classrooms for first- through fifth-grade. In addition, the east playgrounds were remodeled, and the west parking lot enlarged.

Members of the Denver Board of Education, district officials and Ruby Hill Neighborhood leaders are all expected to join in celebrating the completion of this project. The ten-month project was built with proceeds from the $305 million dollar bond passed by voters in 1998.
