Minority Enterprise &
Educational Development, Inc. Selects Denver Public Schools Mike
Langley As Advocate Of The Year
August 22, 2001
Minority Enterprise and Educational Development, Inc. will recognize
Denver Public Schools and Mike Langley, Executive Director of DPS Facility
Management, with the Minority Business Advocate of the Year Award at the
19th Annual Awards and Scholarship Luncheon on September 14th at the Denver
Center for the Performing Arts at 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
"We look for an individual who makes a concerted effort to reach
out to the minority business community and make sure that they are provided
the same opportunities as other small businesses," said Sara Fuentes,
chairman of Minority Enterprise & Educational Development, Inc.
Langley was instrumental in establishing the Historically Underutilized
Businesses (HUB) Program that offers minority- and women-owned companies
the opportunity to participate in bidding opportunities on Denver Public
Schools projects.
Langley gives credit to his staff and those in the community that have
dedicated their time to this effort. "This award shows that DPS is
walking the talk," said Mike Langley, Executive Director of Facility
Management. "We are a diverse organization. We preach diversity and
welcome it. It only makes good sense and money sense."
