On Denver Board Of Education Will Continue
June 1, 2001
Board of Education Member James Mejía said today his appointment
as Manager of Denver's Department of Parks and Recreation will not affect
his service to the Denver Board of Education.
Mejía was named Manager of Parks and Recreation by Mayor Wellington
Webb this week. He will assume those duties on June 18.
"I'm excited about the new responsibilities and look forward to working
in tandem with the school district on projects of mutual interest,"
said Mejía.
Mejía plans to continue his term (1999-2003) as an At-Large member
of the Board of Education. He serves on the Finance and Audit Committee
and the Contracting Committee.
James currently serves as Deputy Director of the Mayor's Office of Economic
Development and International Trade.
