Grant Ranch School Open
For Business;
Enrollment Strong
The new school in southwest Denver, Grant
Ranch School, now has an office open and is ready for business.
The middle and elementary school site is the school of assignment for all
of the Park West and Grant Ranch neighborhoods. The new school will be located
at 5400 South Jay Circle at Grant Ranch Blvd. and will serve students from
early childhood education (ECE) through grade eight. The school office is
temporarily located at the Grant Ranch Village Center complex at 7255 Grant
Ranch Blvd. next to Bowles Reservoir.
Early registration efforts, reports principal Jim Kullhem, have been "extremely
successful." Registrations to date reflect 75 Denver residents signed
up to return to Denver Public Schools from Jefferson County and private
schools, Kullhem said. Another 80 applications were filed from non-Denver
residents under the Denver Public Schools' "Choice" enrollment
process. Hundreds of DPS students will also be changing schools from both
Henry Middle School and Sabin Elementary.
The school opens for business on August 20 for the 2001-2002 school year.
"The idea of a family oriented neighborhood school that offers a full
menu for students is the real appeal," said Kullhem. "The excitement
about this school has begun to unify the neighborhood across boundaries.
It's truly an exciting adventure in working toward opening day."
