Treat for the Senses at
Floral Design Open House
Students from the Professional Floral
Design Program at Emily Griffith Opportunity School will show off their
skills and designing abilities at an Open House on Thursday, February 22
from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The setting is the second floor Opportunity School Conference Room on the
corner of 13th and Glenarm Streets in downtown Denver.
The Open House is free and open to the public. Students will display fresh
and silk floral arrangements and their portfolios. Orders for weddings and
private parties will be taken for fall.
Professional Floral Design students learn to work with fresh and silk flowers.
They spend a total of 600 hours in learning the correct handling and care
of flowers, design elements, and how to use this knowledge in creative ways.
Four hundred hours is lab time and two hundred hours is devoted to an internship.
The floral industry is growing since more people are purchasing fresh flowers.
Therefore, there are excellent career opportunities for people with the
skills learned in this program.
