Informational Meetings For New Northwest Denver Montessori Dual Language School January 20, 24, and 29

Application Locations During January And February

Parents interested in finding out more about the new Montessori Dual Language School in northwest Denver are invited to attend any one of a series of informational meetings later this month.

The meetings will provide information on the new school's policies, the Montessori dual language philosophy and curriculum, and the application procedure.

The school plans to open in August for children who will be three-, four- and five-years old by September 15, 2001. The school is being built at 3655 Wyandot St. Additional grade levels will be added each year.

The meeting schedule is:

January 20, 1:00 p.m. (Meeting conducted in English)

January 22, 6:00 p.m. (English)
Horace Mann Middle School, 4130 Navajo St.

January 22, 7:00 p.m. (Spanish)

Parents may apply on January 29 between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m at Skinner Middle School or February 15 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Horace Mann Middle School. Please bring a birth certificate for your child and two documents with proof of address (such as telephone bill, public service bill).

The school will open for those students based on the following priorities:

  1. Children residing in the Bryant-Webster, Columbian, Smedley, and Valdez attendance areas;
  2. Other children residing west of Inca street/I-25 and north of Sixth Avenue Freeway;
  3. Other Denver residents;
  4. Non-Denver residents

Application locations will also be open from January 22 through February 23 on the following schedule

Mondays: Horace Mann Middle School, 4130 Navajo St.
(4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.)

Tuesdays: SER, 3555 Pecos
(4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.)

Wednesdays: Padres Unidos, 2009 W. 33rd Ave.
(4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.)

Thursdays: Servicios De La Raza, 4055 Tejon
(4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.)

Saturdays: Padres Unidos, 2009 W. 33rd Ave.
(1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.)

Additional application information:

After the application process has been completed, all of the application forms will be sent to the central administration Planning and Research Department. Every name of every child registered will be entered into a random selection process.

Parents whose children's names have been selected for the school year 2001-2002 will receive a letter telling them they have an opportunity to accept or decline by a certain date. They will also be invited to a meeting and will be given information about the primary tuition plan and their role and responsibility with respect to payments they will make during the school year.

Parents who accept the invitation to have their children participate and who fill out the contractual agreement to pay tuition will then be officially accepted into the program and will receive further information in early August regarding the enrollment procedure at the new school.

Parents whose children has not been selected as first priority will receive a letter stating that their child's name will be kept on a waiting list for the school year until they reapply during the following application procedure time for the following year.
