Citizens Budget Task Force To Make Recommendations At Board Meeting Thursday, January 18

The Citizens Budget Task Force will present its recommendations to the Board Thursday, January 18. The task force will make its presentation during the legislative session, which begins at 6:15 p.m. in the first floor Board Room.

The 14-member task force has been meeting weekly since November. Co-chaired by Laura Lefkowits and John Simonton, the task force is focusing on broad policy issues that impact the budget. The task force has also said it will review the budget proposal from district staff, which seeks to close an $18 million shortfall.
Other items on the legislative session agenda include:

  • The pay for performance design team will present the Board with a "statement of purpose"
  • A proposal from Sabin Elementary School to add sixth grade
  • Proposals from Del Pueblo, Ford, Maxwell and McGlone elementary schools to switch to a continuous (year-round) calendar.

Prior to the legislative session, the Board will hold a work session at 4 p.m. in room 706. The majority of the work session will be closed to discuss legal, personnel and negotiation issues. During the open portion, the Board will discuss legislative items.
