School Fair January 20 To Showcase Hundreds Of Choices
January 10, 2001
Nearly 150 schools are expected to showcase their programs Saturday,
January 20 in the region's only major school fair.
The event provides an easy opportunity for parents to consider the wide
variety of school choices that exist and learn more about each school's
approach to improving achievement for students.
The fair is free and open to all. This year, the event is being held at
the University of Denver's Ritchie Center. It will run from 10:00 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m.
Schools of all types will be represented - public, private, and parochial.
From Denver International School, an all French-speaking private elementary
school, to Denver Public Schools' Manual High School, educators will be
available to discuss enrollment procedures, school philosophy, and how
they meet student needs.
"This is a good place for one-stop-shopping for any parent who is
looking for a quick way to find out more about what options exist in education,"
said organizer Margo Branscomb. "Interest in our event has increased
every year from both parents and the schools so it's clear there is a
need to build awareness about the variety of educational choices that
exist and provide information about what each school has to offer."
Two stages at the Ritchie Center will be dedicated for schools to offer
special programs about their approach and activities.
Interpreters will be available for Spanish-speaking parents.
Parking will be available at All-City Stadium, adjacent to South High
School (1700 E. Louisiana Ave.), with a shuttle to The Ritchie Center.
