West High School Named A "School Of Excellence"

HISPANIC Magazine has named West High School one of its 2000 Schools of Excellence.

Each year the magazine recognizes five outstanding schools in the country that have a significant impact on education.

West High School Principal Irene Martinez Jordan will accept the award in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, October 18, at the Mayflower Hotel (1127 Connecticut Ave., N.W.).

The Center for International Studies, the increased number of Boettcher Scholars, and the school's close working connection with the University of Denver were among the features cited by HISPANIC Magazine as earning West High School the honor.
