Groundbreaking For Montbello Elementary Is September 13

A groundbreaking ceremony for a new school in Montbello is Wednesday, September 14, at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the project site, 51st Avenue and Eagle Court.

Members of the Denver Board of Education, district officials and neighborhood leaders are all expected to join in marking the start of construction on the elementary school.

Scheduled to open for the 2001-2002 school year, the new school is one of nine being built with proceeds from the $205 million bond, approved by voters in 1998.

Based on recommendations from the school's Program Design Advisory Committee (PDAC), the school will emphasize technology, arts and music, and parental and community involvement.
