'Rick Arthur Day' Celebrates East High Principal
May 30, 2000
East High School students and teachers will honor Principal Rick Arthur, who retires at the end of this school year, Wednesday, May 31, in a schoolwide procession.
The procession begins at 2:15 p.m., when Arthur will be taken to the top floor of the school. Then, wearing a crown and robe, "King Arthur" will lead teachers and students - dressed in the school's colors of red and white - down the stairs and out the front doors.
Once outside the school, students will take turns saying their farewells to Arthur. A reception in honor of Arthur will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the front hall of the school.
"Everybody cares about him so much," said parent Gail Farrell. "He means a lot to the parents, teachers and students."
East is located at 1545 Detroit St.
