FIVE MEETINGS WILL HELP GATHER IDEAS ON REPORT CARDS

May 23, 2000

Five community meetings have been scheduled to gather ideas and thoughts about ways to improve school report cards.

Those school report cards will be distributed beginning May 26. They include a variety of student performance and school spending information, along with narratives describing each school.

"We have always viewed this first round of report cards as a pilot of the concept," said Acting Superintendent Bernadette Seick. "Now we need thoughts and ideas from parents, community members, teachers, and students to make these useful and effective reports about the performance at each school."

The five meetings will be held across the city. Each meeting will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The five meetings are:

  • Tuesday, May 30, at Maxwell Elementary School (14390 E. Bolling Dr.)
  • Thursday, June 1, at East High School (1545 Detroit St.)
  • Monday, June 5, at Rishel Middle School (451 S. Tejon St.)
  • Tuesday, June 6, at Merrill Middle School (1551 S. Munroe St.)
  • Wednesday, June 7, at North High School (2960 N. Speer Blvd.)

The report cards have already been posted on the district's web site (www.denver.k12.co.us). Look under Schools and then choose the level - elementary, middle and high schools - that interests you.
