TEACHER JOB FAIR IS JUNE 3 AT BAKER MIDDLE SCHOOL

May 18, 2000

All teacher applicants - and those who might be interested in teaching in Denver - are invited to the "DPS Teacher Job Fair" on June 3 at Baker Middle School.

The Department of Human Resources will be interviewing applicants, distributing applications, providing information about open teaching positions, and offering contracts. Applicants in high need areas - mathematics, science, bilingual education, special education, business education, library media and elementary intermediate teachers - are encouraged to attend.

The fair will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"Denver Public Schools is growing and the district has many interesting, dynamic teaching positions available," said Johnny Lydia, Chief of Human Resources. "We encourage all prospective teachers - those who have already applied and those who have thought about the possibility - to take a look at what we have to offer."

To date, Denver Public Schools has received over 1,700 applications. Teachers who have already applied should receive an invitation to the fair; please bring that invitation with you on June 3.

Approximately 500 new teachers will be hired to keep up with the district's growth in student enrollment and to replace teachers who are retiring, moving to another district, or changing careers.

For more information about the Teacher Job Fair, please call Christine Valdez at 720-423-3282.
