COMMUNITY MEETINGS SCHEDULED TO DISCUSS SCHOOL BOUNDARY CHANGES
February 29, 2000
Two community meetings to discuss possible changes in school boundaries have been scheduled.
The first meeting, to discuss boundary changes that would impact Munroe and Goldrick elementary school students, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, at Munroe Elementary School, 3440 W. Virginia Ave. The proposed change would move the southern boundary of Munroe, between Knox Court and Federal Boulevard, south two blocks from Gill Place to Walsh Place.
The second meeting, to discuss boundary changes in the Montbello and Green Valley Ranch areas, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, at Marrama Elementary School, 19100 E. 40th Ave.
Schools that would be impacted by the changes are Marrama and Oakland elementary schools. The boundary changes are necessitated by a new elementary school in Green Valley Ranch, located at 4100 Jebel St., which is scheduled to open in September 2000.
The Green Valley Ranch area will be served by both Marrama and the new school, which is not yet named.
Under the proposed boundaries, Marrama would serve the population bounded by Buckley Road on the west, 48th Avenue on north, Himalaya Road on the east and the city line on the south.
The new school would serve the population east of Himalaya Road between the southern city boundary and 48th Avenue. Above 48th Avenue, the school would serve students east of Buckley Road. Oakland's eastern boundary would be Buckley Road.
