CHOICE ENROLLMENT PERIOD ENDS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 18

The first round of Choice - the Denver Public Schools enrollment program that allows parents and students the option to chose any school around the city - closes Friday, February 18, for the 2000-2001 school year.

Applications are available at all schools. During this first round, enrollment forms must be submitted by Friday, and can be submitted at any school.

After Friday parents will need to complete Choice forms at the school or schools that interest them. These may be completed through the beginning of the next school year. Students are enrolled during this second round of the Choice process on a first-come, first-served basis. Waiting lists are maintained for schools with more applicants than space available.

Denver Public Schools' open enrollment system provides the freedom and flexibility to select the school or program that best fits a child's educational needs. Parents have four options:

  • Enroll in the child's neighborhood school

  • Apply for a transfer to another neighborhood school (the Choice process)

  • Apply to a magnet program (magnet schools manage their own application process)

  • Apply to a charter school or the Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning

Transportation is not provided for transfers under the Choice process.

Parents who need school boundary information may call 720-423-3400. Parents with questions about enrollment may call the Choice Hotline, 303-405-6696.
