COMMUNITY MEETING SET FOR FEBRUARY 22 TO DISCUSS PROPOSAL FROM KICKSTART.COM; DISTRICT AND SCHOOL WEB SITES WOULD BE IMPROVED WITH INTERNET ADVERTISING

Representatives from KickStart.com and Denver Public Schools have scheduled a community meeting to discuss plans to begin raising money

through advertising on school and district web sites.

A proposed contract with KickStart.com would provide each school with common web sites that would provide portals for Internet use, much like other portals that offer customized start-up pages for Internet browsing. The proposed five-year exclusive contract would let DPS and the firm share revenues from advertising and commissions from online shopping and Internet searches.

The district plans to use the revenue to improve all Internet-related functions, including faster Internet connections and building more comprehensive school and district web sites.

The community meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, in the lunchroom of the Administration Building, 900 Grant Street. The lunchroom is on the fourth floor.

All interested parents, students, teachers, and other members of the community are invited to attend.
