Manual HS Resource Center Announces New Coordinator

Mission
Provide students and community resources in ensuring that ALL Manual students stay and succeed in school. The Academic Resource Center integrates all support activities and we build upon best practices to apply to other DPS high schools.
Learning Outcomes
- Provide academic resources for students who want to advance their potential for success in high school
- Facilitate student retention in high school and subsequent graduation
- Provide individualized help for students with the aim of developing advocacy skills
The M.A.R.C. will serve as a location for at least five critical functions:
- Track all high school aged students in the neighborhood, ensuring that they are in attendance at their new school
- Register high school-aged students of newly arriving neighborhood families
- Support the academic pursuits of Manual neighborhood students with tutoring, reference materials, computers with online access, and other resources necessary to succeed in their new high school
- Coordinate community engagement activities for both Phase Two and Phase Three of the Manual Renewal Project
- Recover students who have dropped out of school or who have let their school attendance lapse, making sure DPS and the community are playing an active role is supporting any neighborhood students who decide to leave school
Past Activities at the M.A.R.C.
- June 10 - Ice Cream Social at Manual, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
- June 21 - Community Resource Fair at Manual, 5:30-8:00 p.m.
- July 14 - Pool Party/Job Fair at Stapleton Pool, 5:30-8:00 p.m.
- July 30 - Community Event at (TBA), 1:00 p.m.
- August - Fall Registration at Receiving Schools
- September 6 - School Based Activity at Receiving Schools, 3:30-5:00 p.m.
- September 23 - College Fair at Manual, 1:00-4:00 p.m.
- October 12 - School Based Activity at Receiving Schools, 3:30-5:00 p.m.
- October 28 - Mentoring Graduation at Manual, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
