The DPS SchoolChoice process for the 2016-17 school year begins Jan. 5, 2016, so now is the time to be researching schools to find the right fit for your student. That’s where three great DPS events come in: the Far Northeast Regional Expo, the West/Southwest Middle School Expo and the Near Northeast School Information Event.

The Far Northeast Expo will be held 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 at the Evie Dennis Campus, 4800 Telluride St. The West/Southwest Expo is also 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 at the Kepner Campus, 911 S. Hazel Court. The Near Northeast event is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13 at the Manual Campus.

The expos allow families to visit with representatives from schools in their respective areas to learn more about their student’s options for the 2016-17 school year. They can also learn more about the SchoolChoice process.

Far Northeast Regional Expo

All families who live in Far Northeast Denver are part of the Far Northeast Enrollment Zone for middle and high school. Because students are not automatically enrolled in a neighborhood boundary school, all current fifth- and eighth-grade students are asked to indicate their top five school preferences on the DPS SchoolChoice form. You can learn more about your options at the expo!

West/Southwest Middle School Expo

Likewise, families of current fifth-graders living in the West and Southwest Middle School Enrollment Zones are not automatically enrolled in a neighborhood boundary school, and will need to indicate their top five choices on the SchoolChoice form. Come to the West/Southwest Expo to find out more!

Near Northeast School Information Event

This event will feature elementary, middle and high schools in the new Near Northeast Middle School Enrollment Zone. It will be the perfect time to learn more about all the choices available to families in this neighborhood!

SchoolChoice form

The DPS SchoolChoice form will be available Jan. 5, 2016. The form is due no later than 4 p.m. on Jan. 29, 2016.

Families are encouraged to submit the SchoolChoice form online through a DPS Parent Portal account. To create a Parent Portal account or obtain more details, visit https://myportal.dpsk12.org.

If you are unable to apply online, paper forms will be available at all DPS schools and can also be downloaded at http://schoolchoice.dpsk12.org. The paper form can be returned to any DPS school or DPS Enrollment Center.

Any student who does not submit a form by the Jan. 29 deadline will remain unassigned until the Office of Choice and Enrollment Services is able to connect with the student's family. Please note, you may rank all your preferences from within your zone and/or any DPS school, including those in other regions, on the SchoolChoice form.

For additional information on the Far Northeast Expo, please call the Far Northeast Office of Choice and Enrollment Services at 720-423-7627.
