Strategy Office
The mission of the Strategy Office is analyze, define and lead cross-organizational initiatives aimed at advancing district reform priorities. This office is entirely funded via grants and other external sources.
Strategy Office roles to accomplish this mission include:
- Assisting DPS in obtaining additional resources to support critical programs
- Providing direct program leadership of selected priority initiatives
- Providing experienced quantitative, strategic and management skills to help further develop those competencies across the organization
Description & Key Responsibilities:
- The offices of Planning & Analysis and Federal Programs roll-up to the Strategy Office to bring alignment to our planning and accountability functions.
- Leading the ECE/Kindergarten Expansion - this program is targeting to increase preschool capacity by 30-40% and full-day kindergarten by 25% starting in the 2008-09 school year. We are projecting to obtain nearly $7 million from several new funding sources to support this expansion.
- Leading the District Performance Management Initiative - this multi-year program will involve many DPS personnel over time, and includes the School Performance Framework launch in April. We have already secured $4.75 million in funding from The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF) and The Broad Foundation (TBF) to support this project over the initial 18 months, and expect to receive additional funding from MSDF/TBF and other funding sources over the coming years.
- Leading the 2008 School Realignment Project approved by the Board of Education in November 2007 (Schools Closings and Opening of New Schools) - managing the projects to close 9 schools (7 buildings), open 3 new schools (Place Bridge Academy, Cole Arts & Science Academy, Horace Mann) and one new school program (Gilpin Montessori) beginning next school year.
