Parent/Family Liaison

The Denver Public School (DPS) system is implementing a major initiative in cooperation with the City and County of Denver aimed at a dramatic increase in productive parent and family engagement in support of student achievement and overall school success. Eight parent/family liaisons will:

  • Support implementation of Goal III of the Denver Plan, particular as it relates to parent/family and community support of academic achievement.
  • Support all DPS elementary, middle, K-8, 6-12, alternative, and high schools in engaging families support of academic achievement.
  • Application of extensive research and best practice on successful strategies and methods for parent/family engagement in support of student learning and achievement.
  • Use of a partnership development approach for engaging parents/families, teachers, students and the broader community.
  • To the extent feasible, utilization of existing school structure, committees, etc, to avoid duplication of effort or additional "programs."
  • Liaison expertise will include best practice strategies and methods, strategic planning and facilitation skills, community partnership development and school support.
