I remember I was in the second grade in 1963 at Sherman School. On one beautiful November day I went home for lunch with my three brothers and met my mom and grandma on the front porch of our house my mom told us that the president had been shot, I had to have them explain it to me again in different words, I could not understand how this could happen. When we went back to school it was all any one could talk about. As the students filed in to class Ms. Drummund my teacher asked us what we were talking about, someone told her. I remember her saying for us to quit talking that way we shouldn’t be making things up like this! As other students arrived with the same story she stood there in shock. The last of my class mates to come in the room told us that it was official Kennedy had died. No one said anything for the longest time. I can’t remember much more.
