Memories of Denver Public School

I began my teaching career with Denver Public Schools. I was with the district from September of 1968 to June of 1976. I started at Smiley Jr. High then to Hamilton Jr. High for 6 years. My last year was West High before moving from the state. I have a lot of fond memories of students and administrators. One person I particularly rember is Lindbergh McGee. He was Assistant Principal at Smiley Jr, High. He took me as a new teacher under his wing and helped and trained me. The next year, we were both transferred to Hamilton Jr. High. He still continued to work with me and served as a role model. I will always appreciate his kindness and willingness to help a young teacher. I still teach Jr. High in a neihboring state. I have never forgotten the good people and students of Denver Public Schools. Lindbergh McGee still serves as a role model to me. He stands out as one of the finest men I have ever met and one of the best administrators I have ever worked with. Denver Public Schools gave me a solid foundation. That is why I have remained in public education.
