I arrived at Franklin Elementry School after four years of catholic school, I met the only woman teacher that stands out in my mind like a ceremonial banner, Mrs. Haycock, I lived in west Denver where abuse was sort of a way of life, Mrs. Haycock was the most wholesome person I had ever seen in my young life, She made me sort of her pet when she found out that I could recite the "golden rule", She played classical music for us and called it "the music appreciation hour" and that we did, she explained what was going on as each song played, The hall of the mountain king, sunrise, ride of the valkrie, in my years since I have not known such awe as I expierenced in those days.
I moved on after high school to get away from the abuse, became a solder and when I returned from overseas she could not be found, what a glorious person she was. that I could aspire to such greatness!
Franklin school was on colfax and I made many friends there, these were great school years (1939-1943).
